The Shun Classic Series blends time-honoured Japanese samurai blacksmithing with modern, precision manufacturing. The outcome is a premium collection of Damascus knives crafted to exacting standards and engineered to hold a keen edge, making them well suited for professional use. The blades display an attractive, semi‑gloss Damascus pattern formed by 32 layered wraps, paired with an elegant, tapering pakkawood handle for a design that emphasises both function and quality.
At the core of each blade lies VG‑MAX steel with a hardness of 61 (±1) HRC, extending to the cutting edge. Encased in 32 layers of Damascus steel, the construction delivers a unique balance of strength and flexibility. The knives are finished with a double‑bevel edge.
The slim pakkawood handle follows the traditional Japanese chestnut profile. Stabilised with high‑quality resins for enhanced durability and moisture resistance, it provides a comfortable, secure grip aided by a small rim on the right side. An integrated tang improves stability and overall balance.
The carving knife, or slicing knife, is made for producing even, uniform cuts. It is ideal for poultry, beef, pork and lamb, it lets chefs slice meats into consistently thin portions. It also handles larger fruits and vegetables easily, creating neat slices in a single smooth motion.
